All Marshall Goodman needed on Election Day was one vote to become La Palma’s newest council member.
He got more than 3,300.
Now, Goodman’s not naive. He knows many in the city voted for him only because the ballot said to vote for three candidates and his was one of three names listed. (Incumbents Gerard Goedhart and Peter Kim are returning to the council.)
But, “It was humbling, of course,” Goodman said last week. “I felt very honored to be in that sort of position of recognition, that people know the work I’ve done. There’s definitely been a lot of connection with community members, and I’m happy to see there was a good response.”
Goodman, chair of the city’s Community Activities and Beautification Committee, is an 18-year La Palma resident.
His four children are products of the city’s school system, and his wife “has been a great catalyst…
