Grand Designs: Couple modernise their 1960s bungalow – but the neighbours HATE it


Stuart and Rosie Treasurer, from the Wirral, near Liverpool, spent £175,000 on extending and refurbishing their three-bedroom home, to double its size and modernise its design. 

But many of their neighbours are not impressed with the home’s design, describing it as “like a giant garden shed” or an “office block”. 

One neighbour, Tony Argent, reveals: “I hate it, I hate it. And I don’t know anybody who likes it. 

“You come up the road and it’s like a smack in the eye. You see this wooden shack in front of you and it looks like a giant garden shed.” 

Stuart and Rosie explain they wanted to completely revamp the home where they have lived for the past five years with their two children, Molly and Ben. 

To achieve the new look, the original building’s roof was taken off and replaced with a giant rectangular block with a sloping rubber roof and timber clad…
