ASBURY PARK, N.J. — Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender” holds a special place in the hearts of Boss fans.

The Born in the U.S.A. album track became an anthem for the Jersey Shore following Superstorm Sandy when the owner of Anjelica’s in Sea Bright put the song’s title on a poster and hung it above his destroyed restaurant. Fan Matthew Aucoin went toe-to-toe with Springsteen on the song at Citizen’s Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia last September.

Now, 1,004 Springsteen fans have gathered in Vilanova de Bellpuig, Spain to sing it — en masse — at the “No Surrender Festival” on Saturday.

The “band” rehearsed for hours under cloudy skies.

“It’s been incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it and it certainly has been worth coming to,” said a participant to the Catalunya Press of Barcelona.

It looks like it’s going to be a one time only performance.

“I can’t do anymore,” said Josep Maria Pons to the Catalunya Press. “When things go so well, it’s best not to repeat them.”

Check out a video of the performance below.
